Our tribute to the Kaftan.

One garment. A thousand years. Infinite versions.

A garment that is a vessel of memory, meaning, and quiet magic — worn across centuries and continents, carrying stories of freedom, identity, and unhurried beauty.

We chose to explore this single garment in different shapes, blending vintage patterns with cultural touches as we travel through the world. With every new shape, texture, and detail, we rediscover its spirit. We celebrate its heritage. We honor the artisans whose hands keep ancient techniques alive.

Each kaftan we make is a love letter — to culture, to craft, to the extraordinary hidden inside simplicity.

Artisants behind BOË

For our first collection, we went to the soul of the textile world.

India's relationship with cloth is unlike any other. From the ancient Silk Road to today's slow fashion movement, its legacy of handloom weaving runs deep, rooted in centuries of artistry, heritage, and human touch. Textiles here aren't just made. They are lived, shaped by generations who have turned craft into culture.

We were drawn to East India, and to rural Bengal in particular, where silk weaving has been practiced for centuries and passed down through families with quiet devotion and remarkable skill. It is here that we found Anuprerna, an organization supporting over 300 weavers who work within a home-based, family-oriented economy where weaving is not an industry but a way of life.

Together, we create handloomed textiles using indigenous Bengal weaves and age-old techniques, natural fabrics, and azo-free dyes, produced entirely without fossil fuels or harmful chemicals. Every thread carries a story. Every pattern reflects a history.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the brand maintain fair trade practices consistently?

In partnership with Anuprerna, we are committed to supporting ethical and sustainable craftsmanship. Together, we help ensure that artisans receive fair wages, access to education for their children, and improved healthcare for their families. These efforts not only preserve traditional textile arts but also empower future generations to carry these cultural legacies forward with pride.

How does the brand continuesly improve working conditions for its workforce?

We work with a family-oriented, home-based artisan network—where men traditionally take on the weaving, and women contribute through essential pre-weaving processes. Together, we ensure that all artisans are paid fair, dignified wages, on par with respected professions, honoring the skill, time, and care that go into every piece.

What steps is the brand taking to continually enhance both energy and water efficiency in its operations?

We exclusively work with handloomed fabrics, embracing traditional, low-impact methods that honor both craft and the environment. Unlike mechanized production, which can consume up to 132 tons of coal annually, our process requires no fossil fuels. By focusing on handwoven textiles and natural fabrics, we significantly reduce water usage and avoid the wasteful dyeing processes common in industrial manufacturing. We also use azo-free dyes, which minimize chemical runoff and further reduce environmental harm—proving that beauty and sustainability can go hand in hand.
